My creative process – April 2014
Boy the year is going so fast… This month has been my busiest so far. I have managed to secure some sponsorship and support for this project from a number of organisations such the Cyprus High Commission in Canberra, NMIT, Melbourne Polytechnic, Chapel off Chapel in Prahran, the Print Department, ImageScience, The Edge, Regent Framing and Eckersleys Art Supplies. My creative process – March 2014
My latest achievement. This one measures 25 x 38 cm and took roughly 10 hours to complete over three days. It’s based on a photo taken in the 1950s by Reno Wideson. Obviously, I have taken certain liberties with this reference photo. I have chosen to emphasise some areas more than others for visual effect and to alter the focal point away from the surround landscape and more to the village itself. My creative process – February 2014
Stavrovouni – A study in graphite This more detailed study took about 2 hours to complete. Once again, I am exploring alternative techniques with my pencil markings trying to represent the soft and rough textures of the landscape and buildings. I’m pretty happy with the results so far. The next challenge is sketching and illustrating the final drawing for my poster. My creative process – January 2014
The very first thing I need to do before I embark on an artistic adventure is to set-up and arrange my home studio. This involves a number of key tasks such as: gathering together all my resources (materials and tools) that I plan to use; pinning up all manner of inspiration onto large mood boards; adjusting and arranging my desk and room lighting (daylight globes): sharpening my pencils; dusting and cleaning all surfaces; sorting out my reference library; and setting up my MP3 playlists and radio.
